PlayStation 6: AMD is already working on "Next generation"

The launch of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S is now almost a year and a half ago, and yet the new generation of console has not really started. On the one hand, this is due to the few exclusive - most titles still appear cross -gen. On the other hand, the availability is so bad, especially at Sony's console that many of us cannot upgrade, even if they want - and still bind on the PS4. Nevertheless, the next generation is already being planned in the hidden.

AMD is probably working on chips for PS6 and Xbox Series 2

A job advertisement from AMD on LinkedIn gives us a little insight into the future plans of Sony and Microsoft. Both console manufacturers rely on AMD processors in this generation, and that does not seem to change with the upcoming consoles. The company is looking for a chip architect that develops hardware components for the next generation of console:

The team behind the graphics chips for the PlayStation, Xbox and RDNA family stops in Canada for a Next generation Chip project.

In short, this means: Yes, the chips for the next PlayStation and Xbox are already being planned. Of course, this could also be a privately variant of the current consoles.

Half a year ago, a Sony job advertisement also indicated the PS6:

It is not that special: It may seem strange at first that Sony is already working on the PS6, although the PS5 is still very difficult to get. In fact, the hardware manufacturers are almost continuously working on better components that could find their way into the next generation of their devices. This does not mean that the PS5 will be replaced again in the next few years.

When does the PS6 appear? Of course we can only speculate about that. The lifespan of the PS3 and PS4 were each seven years - accordingly, the PS6 would come onto the market in 2027. For a longer cycle, the PS5, unlike the previous generations, does not have a “bottle neck” with the hardware - so no clear weakness that developer studios would at some point extremely hinder. In addition, the stuttering start could also lead to a longer run due to the delivery problems.

does the PS5 Pro come before the PS6?

Although the advertisement of AMD speaks of "next-gen", this can of course also mean console upgrades such as the PS4 Pro or Xbox One X. But plan Sony and Microsoft with an intermediate generation at all? So far, no studio really uses the potential of the new consoles. Of course, a PS5 Pro is not excluded, and there are rumors in this regard.

How long should SONY, in your opinion, hold on to PlayStation 5?

Our test of the game The Last of Us Part 1

In 2013, PlayStation 3 welcomed a game that would become one of the best infiltration and survival titles for Sony players. In 2014, PS4 players were able to have fun with the game The Las of Us Remastered. Subsequently, The Last of Us Part 2 appears and this time, the developers used a new engine so that the game is adapted to the PS5. With the HBO series of The Last of Us which is in development, it was the perfect opportunity for Sony to bring out a new version of the Thou game at full price for PS5 players. Is it successful? Yes, but we must admit that the game is sold at a little too high price to become an option for players who have already played the game. + Controls + The visual + History, always so poignant + Use of the dual sense -His price -Pour of those who have already played there

The vision of an independent developer for a RPG

Original text too short. In 2021, there were more than 60,000 Steam games. According to the statistics provided by Video Game Insights, 96% of these games are independent games. It seems that there is an influx of games developed independently. Yet, with this incredibly high percentage, independent games represent only 40% of steam sales. Why is it? Does this have to do with the fact that players are just not interested? With games like Among US and Latham, Hades and Fall Guys, this idea is hard to believe. Noah CAI developer, better known on the Internet under the name of Pixel Architect, has both a term and an explanation for this phenomenon. He calls it: Indiepocalypse. CAI, independent game developer and founder of World2studio, is currently working on his own game called RPG Chief. It refers to a term used by independent developers to designate the end of the golden age of the independent game. However, CAI has its own ideas about the phenomenon of Indiepocalypse. I think we...
